It is with great honor for founders of SOS Galgos, Anna Clements and Albert Sordé to have received the Courage of Conscience Award by the Peace Abbey on September 18th, for our work in defense of Spanish greyhounds through public education and legislation.
The Courage of Conscience Award
is humbly given out of a desire to promote the causes of peace and justice, non-violence and love.
The Courage of Conscience Award was first given to Oxfam America and throughout the years personalities such as Mother Teresa of Calcutta, Muhammad Ali or Mikhail Gorbachev have been recipients of this Award.
The rescue of Emily the Cow, who scaped the slaughter house in Hopkinton, wandering like Christ in the Wilderness for forty days and forty nights, and was found by the Peace Abbey staff and brought to safety in the Abbey on Christmas Eve, lead the Peace Abbey staff to be more inclined to recognize animal welfare work. Louise Coleman of Greyhound Friends - AEGA, has played a strong role in helping to raise public awareness in greyhound welfare among American and European citizens.

with all the members, volunteers and supporters of SOS Galgos, who make
it possible to carry on working for the Spanish greyhounds, until we
achieve our goal that greyhounds and all animals in Spain receive
well deserved respect.
Carmen Ossorio, who also travelled to Boston, was praised for her work on greyhounds, so appreciated in the USA, which was exhibited in Gallery 55 thanks to John Mottern and Greyhound Friends. Our thanks too for their hospitality as well as Jordan Graustark for making this trip become reality through her help in adopting two galgos, Gigi and Dandy and generating adoptions of several others galgos also now happily placed in America.
