Well, Lucas had his stitches
taken out last night but the terrror that he is, scratched himself
opened again. The large extr a
skin on his neck has been revised and he does look much better but
this horribly scratching really does a tune on him. It
dosen't slow him down but i hate that we cannot find a remedy to
stop it. He is still on antibiotics and really is doing well.
So i have a little story for you and am still in amazement
over what our magical Lucas is capable of. At dinnertime in
my house it is always all eyes on the food and since i do cook so
much, if i stop short, everyfurkid is right up my butt, Lucas
being front and center. I have always fed the greys
leftovers on a fork and actually let them eat off the fork, but it
was strange to Lucas as he tried to just run away with fork food
and my hand. We have had him in one of my turtleneck shirts
to protect his neck with his legs thru the arms of the shirt which
i knotted at the end to stop him from scratching so hard. So
here is this big doofy Lucas standing waiting his turn for his
share when all of a sudden he stands on his hind legs and walks
accross the kitchen standing taller then me! We were all
shocked out of our minds and could not believe what we were seeing.
With that, on his hind legs, he walks up to me standing taller and
takes the entire bowl of CARROTS out of my hand which i had over
my head! Of course, there was nothing left in the bowl once
he got hold of it and Gene my son Sean and the kids stood in
absolute amazement when we saw what he did. Now it is a daily
occurence and it is so strange to see this big goofy gentle giant
standing tall on his hind legs, especially, especially!!!!!!after
what he had been thru. Lucas i sware is magical, he does
things i have never seen other greys or galgos do and i just
wonder who or what helped in the making of this most personably
silly funny dog! Somewhere in his life he had to have been
loved to have the spirit and personality that he has now. Or
at least i want t o
believe that. He is just so funny. Carrots? I
can't even get the kids to eat carrots neverthe less a dog!
Everyday is an adventure for me with Lucas and learn so much more
each day. He
definitely stands out in the crowd of others and to watch him
sleep at night in my bed, Maires head resting on his back and
Patricks long legs accross his body, it just blows me away.
Of all the galgos i've had, never were any of the others anything
like this boy. Of course all my love and best to you and please
share with me new of you impending adoption and your fosters.
Love hearing from you and will never forget our time together.
Only hope we can do it again soon. Sue
